Some days are brought to you by absolute dreary and cold weather. Already, it was about ten degrees cooler than last week’s temperature drop. The clouds were out and there was not a bit of blue in the sky. The sun had been hiding for days.
I lay on the couch wrapped up in every blanket that was downstairs. The fire was going and finally I started to doze off.
It was my last day before I returned to work. Be jealous. I was living it up.
Then I heard a shuffle and the sound of boxes being dropped on the front porch. The doorbell rang loudly and I jumped up out of my cocoon.
I opened the door and waved to the UPS man. There in front of me, was a big box. The kind of box that brought back memories of Christmas morning. I threw the smaller box inside the house because I knew that was something I had ordered for work. My focus returned to the big Amazon box. It had my name on it.
A present! It had to be a present! I didn’t order anything this big. Maybe my husband planned a surprise. Maybe my parents sent it to me. Let me think what else it could be!
Dragging the box inside, I shut the door and moved quickly to get it open.
And imagine my surprise when I realized this was no surprise at all.
I completely forgot about the cat litter box I had ordered.
