Life, Please Hold.

September 20, 2015 By: Staceycomment

I counted weeks, followed by days, then hours, and finally minutes.

Hello to a girls weekend at the beach.

Me time. Friends time.

No responsibilities other than looking out for myself. No planning dinners or kid pick ups. I would be staying up late and sleeping even later. A book got packed that I would actually read. I could barely contain my excitement.

Don’t get me wrong. My family is beyond awesome and I love them. Things had just seemed nonstop lately. I needed life to stay on hold for a bit while I got some down time in.

We got to the house and decided to figure out sleeping arrangements after looking at all of the rooms. My friends and I walked into one upstairs and there were bunk beds in it!!!!  Dreams of childhood came back to me. I always wanted bunk beds. Apparently, I wasn’t the only happy one. There were 2 sets of bunk beds and that’s where we slept all weekend. Bunk beds for all! (Can you tell how much I wanted a bunk bed growing up?)

Sidebar: I didn’t go away to school so no dorm life for me and I have never lived my adult life with anyone but my husband. Having roommates even for a weekend was new to me. You could really tell when I announced that if they heard anything funny in the bathroom, it really was my electric toothbrush and not a vibrator.

I may have also announced I snore too many times.

Yeah. I would have made an awkward roommate.

Back to it…

The beach is a beautiful place to relax and that’s exactly what we did.

We hung out and talked about anything and everything. We laughed a lot. We got silly and pigged out on all kind of junk food and fun beverages.  I am lucky to have amazing people that can put up with me for a whole weekend.

I read at least 5 chapters while sitting in the sand. Parents, you know that is big.

It’s funny how I went with the intention of putting life on hold for a bit. Life kept going. Friends will do that for you, When you need laughs, when you need to cry, and when you just need to remember how wonderful everything truly is, they bring it back for you.

So, I could go back home and live it even more to the fullest.

Special thanks to the most awesome and peaceful place…Nana’s Nest. Can’t wait to go back!

I am so happy you are visiting my blog! Please sign up to receive the latest postings. It would be great if it's not just my family following along (yes... family you are important, but you are kind of obligated). Lots of fun thoughts and adventures will be going on! Best part is, you don't have to be 40 to enjoy it.

Moments go through my mind like a movie on the slowest play possible. Everything from the past year plays before me.  I analyze and spend so much time reflecting. Most of all, I question so much of it. This is the night before I turn 43. Bring on the cocktails because I am about to […]
