Have you looked at how you have changed through the years? Do you find yourself feeling older because people around you (especially little ones) are changing so much? Are you proud of your accomplishments?Do you take the time to be appreciative of them? Do you value friendships? Are you happy with where you are in life? Are you standing tall after anything you may have overcome to get where you are? Do you find yourself still dreaming of what is yet to come?
Recently, we were sitting around looking at old family pictures. Out came a few of hubby and I back when we were first dating.
We stared. Then, we stared some more.
Hubby: Were we really that young? I had more hair and it wasn’t all gray.
Me: I had skinny days. I don’t think there were circles under my eyes.
Truth is, I warned him right before we were about to get married. I proudly pointed to my dad and his gray hair and said I caused that. Hubby laughed it off. Now here we are.
What happened to us?
We dated. We made it through a long distance relationship for awhile. Then, we moved in together. After that, we moved a few states away from our family. We planned a wedding and went through married growing pains. Merged two families with different religions. Then, we tried to get pregnant. Hello infertility stress. Thankfully, we had a baby. Back to infertility stress and we were beyond blessed to have another baby. Welcome to married life with kids. What else? Oh yes…we have gotten older through the years. You can probably read between the lines of the stress, happiness, and trials of life. There are at least 100 blog posts waiting to be written.
Yet, we have so much. We look at pictures of the past and see where we have come from. Looking at pictures now, we are aware of how we have aged, but also what we have to show for it.
Now, that’s something we can really stare at.
