National Donut Day.
Say it again. You know you want to because it’s awesome.
Yes. Donuts have become a national holiday.
Free donuts in lots of places! If that is not a reason to celebrate, I don’t know what it is.
Thanks to social media, we have all of these holidays that never existed before. At least I don’t think they did. I never saw the “Happy Donut Day” cards in Hallmark.
Growing up in New York, Dunkin’ Donuts was my place to go.
My favorites were chocolate frosted and glazed. I also remember going with my mom to sit inside. We would get warmed up coffee rolls and I would eat mine with a hot chocolate.
In North Carolina where I live now, Dunkin’ Donuts is in the minority of places to go for donuts.
Krispy Kreme is HUGE here. You can go and watch them make the donuts and even get a hat to wear. (Kids love this!)
There are also other donut places that are cake based or pride themselves on homemade taste. There are a lot of choices! It is a fun overwhelming problem to have. (Note: when I was pregnant I may have overwhelmed hubby with all my fun choices of which donuts I wanted over 9 months).
I do find it amusing that we have made changes in society such as kids meals changing to offer healthy options and constant news reports on benefits of being physically fit that we bring out a national donut day.
Who am I to be unpatriotic? I will be first in line to get a dozen.
Happy National Donut Day!
Cake based donuts all the way!! Duck donuts and Bills donuts from my hometown!!
